Project Phase Four: Mainstreaming

Culture of Civic Engagement: Creating a Lasting Legacy in Civic Empowerment

Phase Four of our project, termed “Mainstreaming,” marks a pivotal juncture where the focus shifts from individual training and empowerment to broad societal integration. The goal of this phase is to establish a sustainable youth empowerment pathway and ensure that the methods and outcomes of the project are ingrained within community practices and recognized as a model for civic education. Here’s how we are setting about creating this enduring impact:

1. Establishment of Dialogue Clubs Corners

One of the cornerstone initiatives of this phase is the establishment of Dialogue Clubs at various partner sites. These clubs serve as both training hubs and information points where young people can access resources related to civic engagement and civil society. Hosted within the premises of partner organizations or those of members from our project network, these clubs are not just static entities; they are vibrant, active centers that organize regular activities and trainings each month. Managed by ALKHAIR LIBYA, these clubs are designed to be seamlessly integrated into the ongoing work of our partners, ensuring they remain vital and functional beyond the project’s lifespan.

2. Organisation of Mainstreaming and Dissemination Events

To extend the reach of our project’s results and make the acquisition of civic skills accessible and appealing, we are launching a series of mainstreaming and dissemination events. These activities, orchestrated by our implementing partners INNOVA, YALD, and ALKHAIR under the guidance of the capacitating partners AOD, EMOTIC, and OEMFCI, will be both offline and online. The aim is to enhance awareness within local communities, building on the awareness-raising efforts of earlier project phases. These events will serve as platforms to showcase the effectiveness and applicability of our methodologies, promoting widespread adoption and adaptation.

3. Organisation of the “YOUTH CIVIC PATHWAY” Final Conference

The culmination of our project is the “YOUTH CIVIC PATHWAY” conference, a major event designed to engage a wide range of stakeholders including young people, youth workers, trainers, educators, policymakers, and local development experts. This conference will not only highlight the successes and learnings from the project but will also push for the integration of our civic education approaches into local and national educational curricula. By advocating for a more tailored and holistic approach to civic education, the conference aims to address and diminish civic reluctance, ensuring that future generations possess a comprehensive set of civic and transversal skills. Expected to reach at least 170 participants, this event will serve as a powerful testament to the project’s impact and its potential to inform broader policy and educational practices.

Envisioning a Future of Informed Engagement

As Phase Four unfolds, our initiatives—from Dialogue Clubs to impactful conferences—are laying the groundwork for a sustained and dynamic culture of civic participation. By embedding our project’s results into the fabric of community activities and educational systems, we are ensuring that the legacy of this project is not only remembered but actively lived by future generations. Our vision is a society where every individual is empowered to contribute thoughtfully and effectively to their community, inspired by the pathways we have created and the doors we have opened. Stay tuned as we continue to forge ahead, making civic engagement an accessible and integral part of everyday life.

As our project transitions into its mainstreaming phase, the potential for its impact to ripple beyond our initial target regions grows exponentially. By fostering an environment that prizes ongoing civic engagement and dialogue, we’re planting seeds for a global movement. Our Dialogue Clubs, in particular, are not just local hubs but potential models for similar initiatives worldwide. Each event, each training, each conference is a step towards not only empowering individuals but also inspiring other organizations and communities to adopt and adapt our methodologies. As our project’s approaches and results become benchmarks for good practice, they pave the way for a global network committed to nurturing civic competencies.
